Jakhu Temple of Shimla - One of the most popular temple that is located at Jakhoo Hill in Shimla is known as Jakhu / Jakho Temple. This temple is located at an altitude of 1455 meter. Jakhu Hill offers beautiful sights, the temple here is dedicated to Lord Hanuman.

Legend say that Lord Hanuman rested on this hill while returning with the Sanjeevani herb along with the whole Dronagiri Parvat(mountain). His foot is said to have flattened the top of the mountain where the the temple is now located. The place was named after the learned sage Yaaku-who meditated here.

Jakhu Temple is situated at a height of around 2 Km from the base of Jakhu hill. To reach the temple, a trek of 2 kms, through dense pine forests is required. The trek is very tiring. One can also hire ponies from the base of hills, to take a to and fro ride to temple. Walking sticks are also available at the shops on the base of Jakhu hill. Recently the Jakhu Hill Top has be enlarged and a beautiful viewing platform has been constructed which gives the visitors a bird's eye view of Shimla and Ridge.
