Shimla is known as Queen of Hills. Formerly known as Simla , Shimla is the capital of Himachal Pradesh, the Region of Snowy Mountains. The Mall Road in Shimla is the lifeline of Shimla, hence, the main tourist attraction in Shimla. It is the main shopping center of Shimla where you can find the latest fashion clothes and ornaments along with the local traditional woolen clothes, jewellary, food etc. It has a large number of shops and showrooms, restaurants and cafes, a theater and a merriment hub.
The Ridge
The famous Ridge road in Shimla, capital of Himachal Pradesh, is located in the core of the city. Ridge road connects the main tourist attractions of Shimla- the Mall, the Scandal Point and the Lakkar Bazaar. The Summer Festival in Shimla takes place at the Ridge only.
Scandal Point
Scandal point is the meeting place in Shimla. Located at the end of the Mall Road, Scandal Point provides the scenic view of the picturesque valleys and quaint mountains peak.
Christ Church & St. Michael’s Cathedral
Christ Church is the second oldest church in North India. It took eleven years to build this remarkable church. One of the most important landmarks of Shimla, Christ Church has five stunning stained glass windows representing the virtues of Faith, Hope, Charity, Fortitude, Patience and Humility. The Church looks wonderful at night. St Michael’s Cathedral is a Romantic Cathedral located near the Mall.
Kali Bari Temple
The Kali Bari Temple is dedictated to the Goddess Shyamala. The significance of the temple lies in the fact that the city Shimla is named after the Goddess Shyamala, an incarnation of Goddess Kali.
Jakhu Hill and Jakhu Temple
Jakhu Hill is the highest hill in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh which provides a scenic of the landscape of Shimla from its top. At the top of the Jakhu Hill is situated Jakhu Temple at an altitude of 1455 meters. The famous Jakhu Temple is dedicated to the Lord Hanuman and is believed to be existing from the time of Ramayana.
Sankat Mochan Temple
Sankat Moachan Temple, 5kms from Shimla, is another temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman. It is a 20st century temple located on Kalka-Shimla National Highway.
Lakkar Bazaar Lakkar Bazaar in Shimla is famous for its wooden articles. This marketplace offers tourists to buy wooden souvenirs, dry fruits, herbs etc.
Chadwick Falls
7kms from the Ridge, Shimla, Chadwik falls are the rain fed falls surrounded by green woods. It is one of the main tourist attractions of Shimla. People from near and far come to enjoy the scenic beauty of the Chadwik Fall in September when the flow of water increases as a result of monsoon rains.
Summer Hill
Summer hill is a lovely suburb of Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. 5kms from the Ridge road of Shimla, Summer Hill is situated on the Shimla-Kalka railway line at a height of 6500 ft. The significance of the beautiful town, Summer Hill lies in the fact that Mahatma Gandhi resided here during his visit to Shimla and another famous tourist spot, the Indian Institute of Advanced Study is located on the Summer Hill.
Indian Institute of Advanced Study
Indian Institute of Advanced Study also attracts tourists. The building was built at the time of Bristish Rule in India as a home for the Viceroy of India, Lord Dufferin. The Simla Conference held here in 1945. After independence the building was renamed as Rashtrapati Niwas. Later in 1964 it was turned into an institute for higher studies. This institute is rich in spacious gardens and pine trees. Indian Institute of Advanced Study is famous for literature and politics.
Annandale
Annandale is well known as play ground of Shimla, which is situated at a distance of 3 km from the Ridge and at a height of 6,117 ft. It is the prime choice of adventure sports lovers and one can enjoy cricket, picnic and polo.

Glen forest 4kms away from the ridge, the dense forest, Glen is situated at a height of 6000ft. it is an ideal tourist spot with a picturesque beauty of bubbling water streams from the melting snow.
