Naldehra got its name from the Naag Temple (dehra of the God Naag) which lies in the centre of the golf course. Apart from golfing, Naldehra is a place a year round picnic spot in the valley. Long walks and picnics at this hill station lift the spirits and bring peace to mind.

Naldehra is famous for the oldest golf course in India perched at a height of 2044 meters above sea level in the midst of natural beauty. Initially the golf course was a 9-hole course which was later expanded to 18 holes. It was discovered by the British Viceroy, Lord Curzon. Curzon was fascinated by the divine beauty of Naldehra and spent hours romancing with Naldehra's cedar woods. He was so much captivated by the beauty of Naldehra that he named his daughter “Alexander Naldehra”. The favorite camping site of Lord Curzon has become a famous tourist destination and his establishment- the golf course has become the loveliest golf course in India.

The beautiful hill station can be visited all the year round. The temperature, in summers, varies between 15 degrees to 28 degrees. In winters, the temperature drops down till 4 degrees.

This year round holiday destination has limited accommodation facilities. Himachal Pradesh Tourism Log Huts and Hotel Golf Glades are the prime accommodations in Naldehra.
