Shimla and Kalka are connected by narrow link. This famous narrow link was built on 1924 and still toy trains are running between the two stations. These toy trains are more than 90 years old. If you joy ride by these trains, then you can see natural beauty of Shimla and the 105 wonderful tunnels.
Summer in Shimla ranges from April to June, with temperatures from a maximum of 27°C and a minimum of 13°C. Summer temperatures are considered mild and light woolens or cottons are recommended.
Winters lasts from November to February, with temperatures rising to a maximum of 8°C and going below of 0°C. Winters in the area are cold due to the regular snowfall and resulting extremely cold winds from the upper Himalayas. Heavy woolens are recommended for this season. Shimla experiences snowfall generally around Chistmas though on many occassion snow storms have hit as early as last week of November.
